When you think of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, the first thing that probably comes to your mind is the vehicle’s impressive 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, but did you know this compact SUV also earned some of the best safety ratings possible in the automotive industry?
The all-wheel drive version of 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander earned the best possible safety rating of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In individual tests, the AWD Outlander received four stars in total frontal-impact protection, but earned five stars for side-impact protection. Standard safety features on the 2016 Outlander include traction and stability control, antilock brakes, hill-start assist, and six airbags.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander equipped with the Forward Collision Mitigation system was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Forward Collision Mitigation system is an optional feature for the ’16 Outlander; the system can alert the driver if it detects an upcoming frontal collision, and if the driver doesn’t respond, this system can automatically engage the brakes in an effort to reduce the harshness of the collision.
Other advanced safety technologies offered with the 2016 Outlander are lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and a rearview camera.
