Fifty years ago, most people would not call a car a technological marvel. However, in our modern times, technology is becoming more and more important to the automotive industry. Mitsubishi is embracing the technology of the future with a focus on sustainability. It calls its technological mission “@earth TECHNOLOGY.” It has three main goals: Environmental Responsibility, Driving Pleasure, and Toughness & Safety.
Some of Mitsubishi’s environmentally-friendly technology includes continuously variable transmissions (CVT), which work to continuously adjust the transmission to deliver the most efficient drive; the i-MiEV (Mitsubishi’s 100% electric vehicle); and plant-based plastics for use in manufacturing. The plant-based plastics are used as a means to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the use of fossil resources. Not only does Mitsubishi use Green Plastic but they have developed recyclable products used to build Mitsubishi vehicles. Mitsubishi realizes their responsibility to develop environmentally friendly vehicles.
Technology can also make driving more fun. Mitsubishi uses a wide range of technology to make its vehicles more enjoyable. The MIVEC Turbo engine delivers high performance in speed with lower fuel consumption. The technology used to design the Mitsubishi vehicles has given the cars improved aerodynamics with less drag. This means the vehicles will perform better and save on fuel economy. Lastly, the right-left torque vectoring system offers cornering performance and driving stability giving you a better feel for the road.
Toughness & Safety
One of the first uses of technology in any vehicle was to improve safety. Think of features such as seat belts and airbags. Mitsubishi takes safety technology even further with features such as a whiplash injury reduction seat, a reinforced impact vehicle body, and more. The Whiplash Injury Reduction Seat was developed to prevent the head from leaning back and reducing the load on the driver or passenger’s neck. The RISE or Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body is used to as energy absorption in the event of a crash especially a head on collision.
